March 9th is "GET OVER IT" Day!

Linda Davis Get's Over it!

Did you ever lose a big deal, a wonderful listing, or a high end buyer?  Did you ever beat yourself up over it?  If only I had said this, or done that?

I always tell my agents when they lose business to think about it for just 15 minutes. Take only 15 minutes and think about what you might have done to make a difference in the outcome.   And then GET OVER IT!!!!!

I'm delighted to find out that there is a website and special day dedicated to just that!  Today is "Get over it Day".  On the website you'll find "Get over it" videos, music and a message board.  Some submissions are sad, while others are pathetic. A few are very  funny!

So how about it??   GET OVER IT!  As the website says "It could always suck more!"

I need to get over:   Taking an overpriced listing. In really lousy condition. With an uncooperative seller.   How stupid was that?   I know better!!

Ok, I'm over it.  It won't happen again.  Really.

I woke up today feeling pretty darn good. I had a great week and a slow day ahead of me. 8 am the phone rings, the deal I negotiated yesterday and had sent off to the sellers for signatures, kicked, buyer got cold feet. 10am my deal scheduled to close next week, kicked, subprime borrower, lender put the breaks on. 11:30 another subprime deal kicked 2 weeks before closing. Been at work for less than 4 hours, down 3 deals and over 20G. 1:00 received a pretty good offer on one of my other listings. Should be able to get it done. Another day another dollar. Today's tally: 3 down, 1 up but still moving forward:)

And while he did all that I drove around in my Jeep with the top down, working on my tan and thinking about how I could help him get over it.

And lo and behold I found a way to help. LOL...

Our 'getting over it' has a happy ending :-)

LOL

The website rocks. I got up in a bad mood because I designated it to be cleaning day. I got over it. And now it's TGIF! :-)

PS: It was 60 degrees here today so we Ohioans can smile at Florida tans and not be jealous anymore :-)

I remember a great speaker from one of the Howard Brinton conferences, who made just that point. Depending on the situation, you can use your arm to make a semicircle, going up from left to right - or, if you're in a very visible situation, you just make the same motion with your finger. We do that in our office within the team when someone loses a bit of perspective.

Linda, I have had more than my share of those, but you can't worry about the ones you can't do anything about, you need to move on and take care of the ones that you still have or can get.

By the way how was Atlanta?????

Linda: Med, Jay, Boomer and most importantly, Daisy are all missing in cyberspace—and I should just “get over it?” Maybe you are on to something—I could do this.

Just catching up.  I have been away from AR for couple of weeks.

I missed this day on my calendar.  We all need them.  The mortgage banking and real estate business are very similar.  You have to learn that you can't get them all.
